Restoration of railway overpasses
About This Project
The Sulmona-Isernia section, also known as the Trans-Siberian of Italy, is a historic railway line that crosses the national parks of Maiella and Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise. To restore the overpasses, it was decided to make casts on the walls that are still in good condition, and to cast the new parts in concrete, faithfully reproducing the texture of the Marsican stone.
Thanks to the unique and patented characteristics of its polyurethane elastomers, RECKLI® has designed and perfected over the years a system that allows the creation of rubber molds starting from existing architectural elements. With the use of Pur Elastomer Thix it is possible to cast vertical surfaces with perfect and detailed correspondence of details and without altering the surface used as a model. The rubber matrix obtained is then glued inside the formwork to model the concrete in the casting phase. To protect and decorate the concrete, the protective coloring ProtectGuard®Color was applied, a water-repellent and oil-repellent pigmented glaze, in the Basic white version, opacity 25%.
