About This Project

Data storage, heating, aesthetics: the new data center at the Frauenfeld barracks (Canton Thurgau, Switzerland) has a lot to offer. The building is mainly used for data storage of the Swiss army and Swiss federal offices.

The architects designed two buildings: an operational building for administration purpose and a production module for computing power and data storage. Since the numerous servers produce heat, this is diverted and used as heating for the adjacent Frauenfeld barracks.

The designers and clients opted for an architectural concrete facade, made with custom made RECKLI formliners.
